COMMENTS: Snoop Dogg
RAPPER SNOOP Dogg says that he doesn’t believe that homosexuality will ever been accepted in hip-hop.
The Gin & Juice star, who now also goes by the moniker Snoop Lion, was asked whether singer Frank Ocean’s gutsy decision to come out as a gay artist would make it easier for others to follow suit.
Snoop said: ” Frank’s a singer. It’s acceptable in the singing world, but in the rap world I don’t know if it ever will be because rap is so masculine”
Just last week the rapper spoke of his support of gay marriage to The Huffington Post, saying: “People can do what they want and as they please.”
“Satisfy yourself accordingly. I have no issues with nobody. I live for me and I live my life doing what I do, so you should have the right to do whatever you want to do.”
Despite his suggestion that the acceptance of homosexuality and rap music have a long way to go, the rapper-turned-reggae star wanted to make it clear that he “doesn’t have a problem with gay people.”
“I got some gay homies.” He told The Guardian.
“In the 90s and 2000s, gay is a way of life. Just regular people with jobs. Now they are accepted, not classified. They just went through the same things we went through as black,” he added.
