AFTER WATCHING footage of a programme that highlighted racial abuse and violence from football fans in Euro 2012 host countries Poland and Ukraine, a former England player has warned supporters not to go.

A BBC Panorama investigation spent a month filming matches in both Poland and Ukraine in the build up to the European Championships that begin on June 8.

The footage shows fans racially abusing black players, performing Nazi salutes and viciously assaulting a group of Asian students.

Campbell, who made 73 appearances for the Three Lions, said: "Stay at home, watch it on TV. Don't even risk it... because you could end up coming back in a coffin."

The families of England attackers Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott have previously announced that they will not travel to Poland and Ukraine for the competition due to fears of racism.

The 37-year-old Campbell, who retired from professional football earlier in May, criticised FIFA’s decision to choose the nations to host the tournament.

"I think that they were wrong, because what they should say is that 'if you want this tournament, you sort your problems out.

“Until we see a massive improvement... you do not deserve these prestigious tournaments in your country.’”
