Spirit of Windrush - Contributions to Multicultural Britain

SERVICE: Westminster Abbey (Photo credit)

THE CONTRIBUTIONS of Caribbean people to British society is visible in all areas of society.

This service will reflect creatively on the journey of the Windrush Generation from the invitation, mixed welcome, to the resilience to overcome and make their contribution to Britain, thereby securing a better future for all.

The Rev'd Joel Edwards will preach. Music, hymns, choirs, readings and a specially commissioned Psalm for Windrush by Shirley Thompson MBE will add to the occasion.

Caribbean heritage people's contributions to the armed forces, health service, transport, education, sports and religion will be highlighted.

The service has been planned by a team drawn from across the community and worshippers are expected from around the country, including politicians, civic leaders and ordinary citizens of all ethnic backgrounds. Tickets are free and registration will be by Eventbrite when available.
