Talented artist seeks to inspire others through her work

VISIONARY: The talented Janet Wolfe with one of her paintings of Jesus Christ

JANET WOLFE is a Christian who creates paintings to reflect the beauty of God’s world, inspire awe and minister to others.

She’s honed her creative talent since the age of four, and now as a mother of a 16 and 27-year-old, her art is touching lives.

Janet’s artistic works reflect her life, faith, and family. She also uses it to spread a spiritual message.

Speaking about one of her paintings, she tells Soul Stirrings: “My painting Snap Back is based on the name of this hat the rap artist is wearing. Here I speak about the man's place in the world...as it was supposed to be, the foundation of the family. It's not just the hat that’s the wrong way around, snap back into your rightful position men!”

Another of Janet’s paintings that has moved people and received numerous Facebook likes is of Jesus, one of a series she has produced of her saviour.

“Last year a man came into church and saw one of my Jesus the Christ paintings hanging at the front of the church and just cried. Another offered me a lot of money for the same painting,” she recalls. She has donated the painting to her church, The Arc in Forest Gate, east London, to help raise funds for the church refurbishment programme.

An award winning teacher, Janet also runs a singles ministry, a soft furnishings business and used to have her own fashion line. In her enthusiasm to help and serve others, she organised For His Glory, an art exhibition featuring works produced by members of her church, as well as her own creations during last year’s London Olympics.

“Every person can leave their mark and live so others are influenced in a profound way, by what they have done. For me it's about impact, raising standards, encouraging others to be the best they can be.”

She would love to see churches feature artistic works by Christians as both a celebration of their talent and a communication aid.

“Visual communication is a very powerful language and there are some things that can be said visually that can’t be spoken in the same way. Art ministry does not replace the Word; it just helps to reflect another side of God’s character and for some who are visual learners, the Word of God sticks easier when you see an illustration.”

Having recently completed a theology course, the talented artist would like her work to take on a greater prophetic edge, and feature more profound symbolism. She also has dreams to open her own art school, and help those who say they cannot draw.

Until those dreams are realised, she will continue doing what she does - creating works of art that inspire and touch the soul.
