ROBBED: Three men arrested over Marvin Winans assault

THREE MEN have reportedly been arrested over the assault and carjacking of megachurch leader and gospel icon, Marvin Winans.

Montoya Givens and Christopher Moorehead, both 20 and Brian K. Young, 18, of Macomb County, Detroit, were charged with carjacking, unarmed robbery and conspiracy, reports The Huffington Post.

Winans, who is the leader of a 4,500 member church in the state, claimed that four or five young men followed him out of the station's store before attacking him while he pumped fuel into his vehicle at a local petrol station.

The 54-year-old believes that the suspects may have been a part of a larger gang of 10 youths he spotted as he walked the station.

Winans said: “I’m just saddened that it has come to this. This kind of nonsense just has to stop. It’s just the savageness of what’s happening in the street.”

The pastor went on to explain that believes the boys did not recognise him and if they did he said 'it didn’t make much difference.'

The news comes after Winans' launch of his campaign against the rise of strip clubs opening in Detroit’s neighbourhoods.

The suspects appeared in Detroit's 36th District Court and were ordered held on $200,000 bonds.

The charges carry up to life in prison.
