ANGER: Rose could not contain his emotions after the match and got red-carded

UEFA HAS decided to postpone its hearing into allegations of racism during England Under-21’s 2013 European Championships playoff qualifier against Serbia – the organisation’s disciplinary committee has set December 13 as the earliest date for it to convene.

The decision was made in order to permit more time for investigations to be undertaken.

The match in question happened in October 16 in Serbian city Krusevac, and it was steeped in controversy; England’s Danny Rose complained he was racially abused by Serbian fans prior, during and after the game.

Adding to the disquiet, the Serbian football federation (FSS) said Rose had in fact upset the home fans by acting in an “inappropriate, unsportsmanlike and vulgar manner”.

However, the FSS later banned players Ognjen Mudrinski and Nikola Ninkovic for 12 months for the subsequent scuffles that followed the final whistle. Also, coaches Srdjan Maksimovic and Andreja Milutinovic were handed two-year suspensions for their involvement after being found guilty of breaching the FSS code of conduct.

England won the tie 1-0, and qualified for next year’s tournament, held in Israel, with a 2-0 aggregate win.
