RACIALLY ABUSED: Yaya Toure, centre, during the City-CSKA match last week (PA)
CSKA MOSCOW must shutdown part of its stadium as punishment for its fans racially abusing Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure last week in a Champions League game.
The Russian club have been ordered by Uefa to close parts of its home ground for its next European fixture.
Uefa charged CSKA following allegations that some its fans made racist chants – including monkey noises – at the 30-year-old Ivory Coast international during a match that City won 2-1 on October 23.
Toure was left “furious” by the racism he was subjected and called on Uefa and Fifa to “do their jobs” and take action against racist abuse.
The game affected by the partial closure is CSKA’s clash against Bayern Munich on November 27 that will see section D of the Arena Khimki shut down.
In a statement, Uefa said: “The fight against racism is a high priority for Uefa.
“The European governing body has a zero-tolerance policy towards racism and discrimination on the pitch and in the stands.”
