UK playwright named on Black Women Power List

HONOURED: Playwright Bola Agbaje

TALENTED BRITISH playwright Bola Agbaje has joined the likes of Doreen Lawrence OBE to make up this year’s Black Women in Europe Power List 2012.

Agbaje, whose credits include the critically acclaimed play Gone Too Far! was revealed as one of the 11 women who had made the cut yesterday (Nov 12).

The annual run down was complied by inspirational online blog Black Women in Europe and also celebrates the achievements of BEFFTA Awards founder Pauline Long and Gambian-born Fatou Bensouda, who was made Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court by the Assembly in June 2012.

Bola said she was “in awe” to be placed on the same list as such “inspirational women”.

She said: “I’m in awe of the other women who are on the list and inspired by their work and passion. To be included in the list is such an honour and keeps me inspired to achieve more”

The list, currently in its second year, honoured women from the world of law, entertainment, media, politics & activism, the arts, entrepreneurship and philanthropy.

One of the organisers said: “It’s intended to acknowledge powerful black women in Europe and to inspire others to reach their full potential”

Bola is currently filming her first feature film Gone Too Far, which will star Nollywood actor O.C Ukeje.
