A United Kingdom film: Trailer marks Botswana's independence

INDEPENDENCE TRAILER: Rosamund Pike and David Oyelowo star in A United Kingdom

TO CELEBRATE the 50th anniversary of Botswana Independence, a new trailer for A United Kingdom has been released.

The clip, dubbed the 'Independence Trailer', features the film's star David Oyelowo, who plays Seretse Khama, King of Bechuanaland (modern Botswana), calling for a "new Africa".

A United Kingdom, directed by Amma Asante (Belle and based on the book Colour Bar by Susan Williams, also stars Rosamund Pike and tells the incredible true story of Seretse Khama and Ruth Williams, the London office worker he married in 1948 in the face of fierce opposition from their families and the British and South African governments.

The film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival and will be opening the London Film Festival on October 5 before its UK release on November 25.
