X FACTOR contestant Dalton Harris is one of the favourites to win this year’s competition. Dalton has stunned this year’s judges – including Nile Rodgers while he sat in for Robbie Williams – viewers and his fellow contestants. He’s sailed through to the final, which airs on Saturday December 1 on ITV. Here’s what you need to know about him.

Where is Dalton Harris from?
The 24-year-old is from Clarendon, Jamaica. He comes from a large family and is close to his sisters and his 18-month-old niece, Nayeli, who he regularly mentions and has featured on his social media.

Jamaicans both in the UK and back on the Caribbean island have been supporting him.

Among those getting behind Dalton is Jamaica’s minister for sports, youth and culture Olivia Grange. Grange told local news publication Central Star: "He's an amazing talent, and really, he deserves to win.

"I continue to encourage members of the diaspora to vote for him."

What’s his musical background?
Dalton won a singing competition, Digicel Rising Star, in his home country of Jamaica back in 2010. He used the prize money to attend school.

After finishing his education, he pursued music full time performing on cruise ships and as a musician. He has released three albums, one of which went to number one in the Jamaican dancehall charts.

What’s his record like on The X Factor?
Dalton was nervous at his first audition but he pulled it together to wow the judging panel and the crowds. His performances at the live shows have been pretty faultless and he’s shown his vocal versatility by singing everyone from Radiohead and David Bowie to Beyoncé and Whitney Houston.

He’s never once ended up in the bottom two and had to take part in the sing-off challenge so it’s evident that it’s not only Simon Cowell, his mentor One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and Ayda Williams that love what he brings to the show, the public are huge fans too.

Does he really have a shot at winning The X Factor?
Considering his track record in terms of performances and how he’s fared in the public vote, it’s no surprise that odds on him to win are 2/7 at bookmakers Coral.
