Young preacher spreads the gospel through social media

YOUTUBE HIT: Jefferson Bethke

SOCIAL MEDIA is fast becoming an effective way for believers to share the gospel message creatively.

Young evangelist Jefferson Bethke uploaded a video of himself reciting a poem called Why I Hate Religion But Love Jesus on January 10. Since then, the four minute video has attracted almost 18 million views, 298,831 likes and 45,356 dislikes.

The poem is about Bethke’s journey to discover truth.

The poet asks “What if I told you, Jesus came to abolish religion? If religion is so great, why has it started so many wars? Why does it build huge churches, but fails to feed the poor?”

Bethke, currently a member of Mars Hill Church (Federal Way) in St. Auburn, Washington says he has a “heart to carry the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ to the inner city.”

He’s recently uploaded a video called Sex, Marriage and Fairytales.
