'Zoe Saldana should play Nina Simone with prosthetic nose'

VALID POINT?: Zoe Saldana (right) gets 'advice' from Jill Scott (left)

SINGER JILL Scott has suggested that actress Zoe Saldana should wear a 'prosthetic nose and darker makeup' to play jazz legend Nina Simone.

The singer and actress, who stars in the upcoming remake of Steel Magnolias with Queen Latifah, told HelloBeautiful.com that she believes Saldana would be an good choice for the coveted role if the directors included the physical adjustments.

Scott said: "Zoe is an incredible actress. I think that there should be some work done, like a prosthetic nose would be helpful and definitely some darker makeup. If Forest Whitaker can become darker in The Last King Of Scotland then I believe Nina should be treated with that respect."

ICON: Nina Simone

"[Simone] was very adamant about her color, about her nose, about her shape and herself and there needs to be some homage paid to that," she added.

The Grammy Award winner also said she hopes more black actresses will embrace their 'natural beauty': "I would love to see a cast of African-American women with their natural hair. This is who we are, and our hair even has a character in itself."

Saldana, who is most famed for her role in Hollywood blockbuster Avatar, has yet to make a statment on Scott's remarks.
