DEGREE APPRENTICESHIPS in STEM (science, tech, engineering and maths) will be encouraged at Teesside University who have received a quarter of a million pound’s worth of funding to promote interest in these sectors.

The money was given to the higher education institution from the Higher Education Funding Council for England and courses have been developed in partnership with employers.

The new apprenticeships will start next September.

Laura Woods, director of The Forge, Teesside University's business hub, told The Northern Echo:

“Teesside is committed to delivering Degree Apprenticeships as part of its core activity, addressing both the current and future skills needs of employers, graduate employability, widening access, and education and employment opportunities in the region."
