A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a woman at her home in northwest London.
Officers were called to a house in Northumberland Road, Harrow, at approximately 5.55pm on Friday, August 14, to reports of an unresponsive woman at the location.
She was named as Harrow resident Elizabeth Nnyanzi, 31, a former pupil at Cheltenham Ladies College who worked at leading City firm Herbert Smith Freehills following an internship with Leigh Day.
The young woman had studied medicine at Imperial College before switching to follow in her Ugandan father’s footsteps as a lawyer.
Neighbours said Elizabeth had lived in the semi-detached house for more than 15 years with her mother - a teacher at Nower Hill School in Harrow - father and two sisters.
London Ambulance Service (LAS) also attended but Elizabeth was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin have been informed.
A Met spokesman said it was awaiting the results of a postmortem carried out on August 16 at Northwick Park Mortuary.
Mechanic Peter Kibisu, 23, of Harrow, was charged on Monday, August 17, with the murder.
He appeared in custody at Hendon Magistrates Court today and will make his next appearance at the Old Bailey on Thursday.
Police said the pair were known to each other.
A friend writing on her Facebook profile said: "I cannot believe it...I will miss your energy, smile and talent."
Another added: "I'm in shock to hear the news. For that little [time] that I've know you. I knew that you were a sweet and gentle girl. You didn't deserve it. May your soul rest in peace."
Officers from Harrow's Homicide and Major Crime Command are now leading this investigation under Detective Chief Inspector Tim Duffield.
