Women of all ages attend natural hair event in London
"BEING NATURAL is no longer a journey, it's a lifestyle," says Mahogany Boisseau, a spokesperson for American magazine, Naptural Roots.
Boisseau, who has boasted natural locks for 15 years, was in town to attend Naturally Fabulous, an event put on by UK blogger Angel Smith of Natural Lounge, on Saturday (Oct 8).
"You better know why you want to go natural, otherwise tomorrow, next week or next month, you will be back to the relaxers," Boisseau told the 300 attendees at the central London venue, now in its second year.
Smith, who started her popular blog after struggling to find any valuable information about natural hair when she decided to stop chemically processing hers, said that she hoped to create the biggest natural hair event in the county to cater for women in the same dilemma.

"It was so difficult to find information on natural hair in the UK when I first decided to go back to my natural roots," she told the crowd.

Aretha Franklin's aptly titled Natural Woman played softly in the background as attendees walked around the room at the Cape Bar and received advice from experts on how to best care for their hair.

Poet and naturally haired Hunii M. Gray recited three of her poems as an ode to the black woman's natural mane.
"I'm not my hair. My hair is me," one poem started.
