A GROUP of successful businessmen and businesswomen will mentor young people as part of a new drive to help build the next generation of professionals.
The Entrepreneurs Club pairs established entrepreneurs with young people through education and networking in a bid to utilise their skills towards advancing young people's academic skills, business enterprise, economic advancement and social achievement.
“We believe that anyone can learn and apply the critical skills of empathy, teamwork, leadership and change making to be successful in the modern world,” they said in a statement.
The new venture was created by Uni-hood, a organisation set up in 2011 by young people committed to “the development of excellence in children and young people and breaking down barriers that keep different areas of London at odds with one another, also known as 'Postcode Wars'.”
With the increase of poverty and lack of opportunity available to young people, Uni-hood was created in response to the senseless killings arising from postcode wars in inner cities neighbourhoods.
The project offers mentoring and practical initiatives that prevent young people from joining gangs.
The Entrepreneurs' Club Business course is aimed at young people between the ages of 13 - 21 years old and will be launching in July this year.
“This is a six-week program designed to take young men and women and develop them into young entrepreneurs,” organisers said. “The course will teach the young people how to take an idea and turn it into a profitable business.
“By the end of the course, the young entrepreneurs will have produced a business which will enhance individuals quality of life.”
A charity concert will precede the launch with Roc Nation rapper Jay Electronica headlining with other prominent UK artists.
The One Mic 'The Evolution of The Revolution' concert will be held at the Coronet theatre in London on June 23.
