ACADEMY AWARD-winning actor Jon Voight has hit back at critics of Donald Trump, defiantly claiming that the US president is not racist.
In a politically-charged video entitled Jon Voight’s message for America , the 80-year-old star says:
"We must understand that this is a nation of liberty, and this president is honouring all. He is not a racist, but a man who loves his country and has every intention to make this land great again.”
"Let us vote for this country’s safety. And may all the angered left find truth, what truth stands for."
He added that racism has "been solved long ago by our forefathers" and that the "angered left-wingers preach love but only pollute.
"It seems that the angered left and angered minorities want to hold President Trump accountable for past lives,” said the father of Angelina Jolie.
“You see, we have been gifted with truth and, as I see it, anger is among the old chains that were binding to the people of slavery, old wounds that still seem fresh."
Earlier this year, Voight branded Trump as "the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln."
This was followed by another video last month, in which he voices his support for Trump, saying the president will “set the nation to be the greatest land of peace and love and great again.”
Voight’s latest appraisal of the president comes after a number of democratic politicians including former Rep. Beto O’Rourke and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slammed the president and his rhetoric as “racist” in the wake of two mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, which took place last weekend.
