INCIDENT: Ryan Jackson

THE POLICE AND the Football Association are to investigate claims that a Macclesfield Town player was racially abused by a fellow footballer during a fixture on December 29.

Macclesfield defender Ryan Jackson was allegedly racially abused by a Barrow player during Macclesfield’s 4-1 win over Barrow in the FA Cup second round replay.

The news follows an initial claim that Macclesfield captain Nat Brown was allegedly subjected to monkey chants by Barrow fans at Holker Street on December 18.

Macclesfield's Amari Morgan-Smith said on social network website Twitter: “So, according to the Barrow players it’s alright to call one of the lads a Jaffa cake on the pitch!! #headsgone”.

Speaking about the Jackson incident, Macclesfield chief executive John Harris said: "We are very disappointed that this has overshadowed our excellent performance.

"We remain staunchly opposed to all forms of racism, which we believe has no place in football, or indeed anywhere.

"The club are aware that the matter has been reported to both the Police and the FA and will offer both it's fullest support in dealing with the matter."
