Dotun Adebayo MBE: New chair of Bernie Grant Arts Centre

APPOINTED: Dotun Adebayo

THE BERNIE Grant Arts Centre has announced that BBC Radio 5 Live presenter and The Voice columnist Dotun Adebayo MBE will join its Board as chair with immediate effect.

Deputy chair Sharon Grant OBE warmly welcomed the appointment, saying: ‘This is great news for the Bernie Grant Arts Centre as we build on the firm foundations of our early years, as well as for Tottenham and the arts.

"Dotun is already known to the Centre having performed his own work here. He was brought up in Tottenham, and with his background in the arts, entertainment and sport, we are absolutely delighted that he has agreed to accept this new role.’

Dotun Adebayo commented: "I came to Tottenham 50 years ago, aged 8, with my family, with all our worldly possessions in plastic buckets. It’s therefore a great honour and a privilege to be given the opportunity to lead the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, and to help grow the talent which we all know is there in Tottenham. Some of it has already emerged - everyone has heard of Adele and Skepta - but we know there is a lot more where they came from.

"The Bernie Grant Arts Centre is one of the most dynamic architectural spaces in London and at the very centre of Tottenham artistically and geographically. Its programme now attracts audiences and artists from far and wide, as well as local people," said Adebayo.

"With its passionate and committed team, I’m looking forward to playing my part in shaping the future of the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, and I invite everyone to join me for the ride!"
