A.Dot becomes first solo female host of BBC 1Xtra Breakfast

CONGRATULATIONS: BBC 1Xtra radio host A.DoT

RAPPER AND radio host A.Dot will be BBC Radio 1Xtra's first solo female to host their breakfast show in the station’s history.

A.Dot, who joined 1Xtra in 2014 to present the station’s weekend 1-4pm show and since October has hosted the weekday 1-4pm show, will take over the reins of 1Xtra Breakfast from July 4.

On the exciting news, A.Dot, who also known as Amplify Dotor Dotty, said: “This is unbelievable. I can't believe actual people are going to be waking up to my voice everyday! I can't wait to kick start your mornings with enough music and mayhem to get you through the day. Breakfast will never be the same again!"

She added: "Just 18 months ago 1Xtra gave a radio rookie a Saturday afternoon show and now here I am taking the wheel on the Breakfast Show. I'm so, so grateful for this huge opportunity. I've never set a 5am alarm before, let's hope I don't sleep through it!"

Twin B and Yasmin Evans, who currently host 1Xtra Breakfast, will be taking on their own solo shows - with Yasmin to become the host of the weekday 1-4pm show and Twin B taking on the Saturday 1-4pm show.

TIME FOR A CHANGE: Current breakfast show hosts Twin B and Yasmin Evans will have their own solo shows from July

Twin B said: “Waking up with the 1Xtra audience has been amazing and leaving the show with more peeps listening to it than ever is brill! Juggling the show alongside my other commitments has been challenging so, 5am alarm off, let's have vibes and good music on a Saturday afternoon.”

Also excited about the changes, Evans said: “I'm delighted to be taking on the afternoon slot solo and excited for the 1Xtra audience to get to know me a little better. As ever being able to express my love and passion for music is key. Setting my alarm a little later will also be a bonus!”
